Mac focus guard

MOM catches the phone grab before it becomes a scroll.

Start a focus session, keep working, and let your Mac watch for the one interruption you keep doing on autopilot. MOM runs locally, nudges softly, and never uploads your webcam frames.

  • Local computer vision
  • Zero webcam uploads
  • Soft nudges, no lockouts

The moment that matters

Most focus tools react after you are gone.

01

The pickup is physical.

You do not decide to open a feed. Your hand reaches first, then the unlock turns into messages, clips, and tabs.

02

Blocking is brittle.

Phone blockers are easy to bypass when you need a code, a call, or a quick check. Heavy restrictions create workarounds.

03

Awareness is lighter.

MOM catches the visible habit and gives you a clean cue to put the phone back down before the session breaks.

How it works

A quiet loop for staying at your desk.

MOM is intentionally simple: start the session, detect the phone, nudge once, and keep the record useful enough to change the habit.

Step 1

Start a focus session.

MOM opens a camera session on your Mac and begins checking for a phone in frame. You choose when it runs.

  • Menu-bar friendly session controls
  • Apple Silicon and Intel Macs
  • Designed for normal desk setups
Step 2

Detect the phone, not your life.

A small on-device model looks for a phone about once per second. Frames stay in memory and are discarded immediately.

  • No recording or saved screenshots
  • No cloud vision API
  • Demo Mode shows exactly what MOM sees
Step 3

Get a nudge you can respect.

MOM sends a notification or a soft sound, then cools down so it does not keep interrupting you while you reset.

  • Gentle alerts instead of lockouts
  • Tunable sensitivity and cooldown
  • One-tap pause for calls and 2FA

Privacy first

Your webcam stays on your Mac.

MOM has to earn trust before it can help. The product is built so detection happens locally, frames are temporary, and analytics are absent by default.

FAQ

Common questions

Does MOM record me?

No. Webcam frames are read into memory, run through the detection model, and discarded. Nothing is written to disk and nothing is sent over the network.

Will it slow my Mac down?

The detection target is under 10% CPU on a 2020-or-newer MacBook, and under 300MB of RAM during active use.

What about Windows or Linux?

v1 is macOS only. Windows is on the roadmap, and Linux will be considered based on demand.

What if it false-alarms?

Sensitivity is tunable, there is a built-in cooldown, and there is a quick pause for moments when you genuinely need your phone.

Why webcam detection instead of app blocking?

MOM is aimed at the physical habit: picking up the phone without thinking. It can catch that moment before any app is open.

Builder note

Built for the reach I kept pretending was small.

MOM is for the moment when a hard task gets uncomfortable and the phone becomes the easiest escape. It does not shame you, block you, or send your camera anywhere. It just makes the habit visible while there is still time to return to the work.
